Danish accordion and fiddle duo, Jensen & Bugge, on tour in the Pacific West, USA!
Accordion player Mette Kathrine Jensen and fiddler Kristian Bugge has specialized in playing traditional music from different parts of Denmark, music that they learn from playing with old Danish musicians, or find in old dusty music collections. They have released a number of cd’s and a dvd, on which they perform as a duo, and sometimes with guest musicians as well.
The duo has tour intensively in Denmark and The Us, and a few years ago, Jensen & Bugge were invited to play at Nisswa-Stämman in Nisswa, Minnesota, one of the few Scandinavian music festivals in USA where the focus is totally on the music. There they discovered that there are certain circles with a strong interest in music from Denmark and the other Scandinavian countries.
“Many Americans are very interested in this culture, many of them listen to the music and want to discuss it”, says Kristian, and he continues: “We have played at festivals, clubs and venues and taught music and dance around the US. We have a knowledgeable audience there, and we hope to continue to explore new areas where we can find such audiences.”
The duo has a new album out right now, and in October 2015 they will be touring in the Pacific Northwest, USA:
